I received the FURLOUGH notice on Friday, Dec. 20th, the last day of my vacation.
"SBA leadership has made the decision to furlough employees
for
Monday the 24th and Tuesday the 25th. All employees are required
to
conduct an orderly shutdown of operations. Shutdown actions may be
performed remotely or
delayed for those who have been approved holiday leave on Dec.
26th.
All other employees are required to report to work at the normal
time and place of duty
on Wed. Dec. 26th to perform shutdown functions."
This morning, I arrived the office at 7:20am because the subway
was empty.
All the riders were sleeping on the subway except me after the Christmas.
We changed the voicemail to "Hello, you've reached the voicemail for YOUR NAME & TITLE. Due to the lapse in appropriations, the US SBA is shut down. I'll respond to your message as soon as we are able to return to work."
I also changed my Out-of-office email message to:
"Thanks for your message. Due to a lapse in appropriations, the US SBA is shut down. I'll respond to your message as soon as we are able to return to work."
